Martinez {Poem}

This past year,
you held my hand
and led me into happiness.
It's a place I've rarely explored on my own

The sky here isn't a dusty orange like it is in my world,
but a brilliant pink with hints of gold
And the lakes here are full of transparent blue water
instead of salty tears

My heart beats wildly as you stare into my eyes
causing my love radiate a vivid warm hue of red
and it's as if all time has ceased to exist
because I feel safe here with you
In happiness.

But last night I was brought back to my world
When you whispered the words
"I don't love you."

And happiness ceased to exist...

Today I stared out my window
watching gray clouds engulf the dusty orange sky
and wondered if I'll ever see that brilliant shade of pink again.
